L.I.F.E. Council … stands for Living In Full Effectiveness. Because at FUMC we never want a spiritual journey to end, even in the second half of the journey! This committee plans for and attends to the spiritual needs of members in their later years.
While many churches may feel that an aging congregation is a flaw, we at FUMC are taking the approach that because senior adults have been and continue to be the backbone of the church, its ministry and its outreach, their ongoing spiritual encouragement is a must. Their leadership and faith strengthens others.
It is in this mindset that we have intentionally formed the following ministries and we would love for you to be a part.
Young at Heart
This is a fun group that meets for a program and potluck lunch every other month on the third Monday. The speakers are always informative and entertaining, the food is always delicious and the atmosphere welcoming. Several times a year this group ventures out to dinner theatre or other fun day trips.
Shut-In Ministries
We also have many opportunities and ministries for those members who can no longer physically gather with our community of faith.
·Birthday Bags-cards are collected for our senior most members and delivered on their birthday
·Christians Helping Christians-a volunteer group that does odd jobs around the house and transports folks to appointments-a helping hand organization
·Eucharistic Ministry-a group of laity that takes communion to those who cannot physically come to worship
·Prayer Team-this group covenants to pray daily for the prayer list they receive each week from the staff. This is a ministry run by those who are unable to get out on a regular basis
·Worship at the Bridge-Tommy Vann leads worship on the second Sunday of the month at 2 pm.
·Golden Circle of Friends-this group of volunteer’s visits and stays connected to folks in assisted living and others who cannot leave home regularly. They also host a luncheon once a year for this group of members.
